12:18 pm - Are you serious? Okay, come on facebook. Did you seriously tell your advertisers that I went from 'in a relationship' to 'single?' And do you think this will endear me to you and your crappy targeting ads?

07:23 pm I'm doing okay, but every day has new realizations and new difficulties. Aside from that, I decided (while talking with Sam) that I really need to take care of myself. So I need some help and opinions. I'd like to get a new haircut, get new glasses, and keep losing weight.
( So let me know what you think )
So basically I just want to start out a new me as I transition to a different way of life. So let me know what you think.

04:00 pm Alright, I know I haven’t written here in a long long time, so I wanted to give an update. Right now I’m nearing the end of fall semester senior year, and let me tell you, it’s been a bitch. There’s been a lot of work, including four research papers whose due dates are fast approaching. The first is my senior honor’s thesis, which is on the depiction of bad mothers in Japanese literature and media, and by the end of the semester I should have two chapters of it done, which is about 20-25 pages. The second is for my feminist literary theory class, and it’s exploring the rhetoric surrounding emergency contraception and its opposition- that one’s 16-20 pages and due on finals week. The third is for my internship credit, and it’s about the advocacy or lack thereof of family planning physicians, 10-15 pages due December 1st. The last one is less intense, for my race class and gender class, and it’s about the image of bad mothers from a feminist perspective, 7-10 pages, due on Thursday. Blech.
Anyway, although it’s a lot of work, I’ve really enjoyed doing much of the research, and it made me reconsider going to graduate school. The plan right now is to spend next year doing JET or another teach in Japan program, to get my Japanese level up up up. If not that, then I’ll take a shitty job for a year while I apply to grad school. I’d likely move to Boulder (where Thomas is going to grad school) and work at a women’s center or planned parenthood. After getting back from Japan, I’d like to go to grad school for asian studies- CU, where Thomas is going, has a good program, so if I got in there and liked it it would be veeeery convenient. The idea of getting to live near Tom and be able to do my own research is pretty exciting and grown-up feeling. First, of course, I have to finish this undergrad thing, so we’ll see how that turns out.

10:32 am - Job stuff So here's my dilemma; in a year and a half I will be spit out from college, and I have no idea what I'm going to do. My plan was/is to go and teach in Japan for a year, either with JETs or with another company like Nova or Aeon. After that, I'd come back and go to grad school, then try and get a job in academia, aiming to be a college professor. The problem is that this plan sometimes sounds exciting to me and sometimes sounds depressing. I don't even know whether I want to live in Japan for a year, depending on how things are going here. Besides that, sometimes I get so sick of academia that I'm sure I could never survive, and certainly never get anything published. So here's where you come in: My majors are Asian Studies (Japanese) and Women's Studies. By the end of my college career I will be at least semi-fluent. Can anyone think of a job that I could enter straight out of college, using one or both or neither of these things? I'd just like some brainstorming that isn't me. Current Mood: blah

10:00 am This is my spoiler-free comment on HP7: I can't believe she said that! BADASS!
Anyway, I also can't believe that I read the book in a day (around 12 hours) and that the series is finished. It's a little sad, and yet there's some closure there.

I will send back all of the stuff you gave me. I will erase your number from my cell phone. I will cry to all my friends about what a bastard you are. Love, Cameron Current Mood: anxious
